MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A veteran skydiver has died doing what he loved after a routine jump took a tragic turn Sunday.

Police say 49-year-old Arkady Shenker, a Brooklyn native, landed in the backyard of a southern New Jersey home.

It is unclear whether the specialized parachute Shenker was wearing opened correctly and caused the accident. He was wearing a "wing suit," which allows a skydiver to move forward while descending.

Officials say the experienced jumper logged more than 350 jumps in his life.

Federal authorities are currently investigating the matter.
