BROOKLYN - At least four people were seriously hurt when flames broke out inside an East New York apartment building.

According to the fire chief, the flames were contained to one apartment on the fourth floor of the eight-story building on Stanley Avenue, but heavy smoke spread throughout.

Dozens of firefighters responded to the scene and helped rescue the four victims, three of which were taken to a burn center.

There's no word yet on what sparked the blaze.
