BROOKLYN - Many high school students are not learning enough about the arts, according to a recent audit by the New York State Comptroller's Office.

The Department of Education says students should receive three hours a week of art instruction for two semesters, totaling 108 hours for a whole school year, by a certified teacher.

The audit revealed that around one-third of the 166 audited schools did not fulfill the requirement.
