BROOKLYN - With the holiday season underway, some Brooklyn shoppers say their year-round holiday savings account has eased what can be a stressful season on their wallets. The holiday savings account automatically extracts a chosen amount from a person?s paycheck month by month. That money is then deposited into a savings account. Bankers say this plan works for most people because it occurs automatically, without the worry of feeling as if the person is losing that money. They say by the time the holiday season rolls around, people are surprised by how much money they have saved to buy gifts for their loved ones without feeling the monetary strain. Most banks offer holiday saving accounts for customers with established checking accounts. Similar accounts are also available for vacations.
