Bail increased for mother charged in daughter's death

BROOKLYN - The bail for a Brooklyn mother charged in connection to her young daughter's death was raised to $500,000 today.

A judge changed the bail for Carlotta Brett-Pierce following multiple outbursts in the courtroom.

Last month, police found the body of 4-year-old Marchella Pierce inside her Bed-Stuy apartment. They say she was malnourished, covered with bruises and may have been tied to her bed.

Brett-Pierce has been charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She is due back in court Nov. 16.
