BROOKLYN - There is an increasing number of Bangladeshi residents calling Kensington home.

Community organizer Mamnun Haq calls it the largest Bangladeshi neighborhood in the city.

“I would say like over 25,000 people living in Kensington are from Bangladesh,” he says.

Many in the tight-knit community are the first or second generation to settle down in the United States.

“You started to have a place where other Bangladeshis could come and feel at home, feel welcome and I think that was so great about the Kensington community - that everyone that came here felt welcome,” says resident Russel Hasnat.
