BROOKLYN - In the year that it's been open, the Barclays Center has hosted many memorable events that have brought millions of people to the venue, but the arena still has some opponents.

Besides high-profile performers like Barbara Streisand and Paul McCartney, opponents are questioning what the venue has brought to Brooklyn.

Ashley Cotton of Forest City Ratner Companies, the developer and majority owner of Barclays Center, says the arena has attracted more than 2 million people to its events and created 2,000 jobs.

The New York City Independent Budget Office estimated that the public subsidies for the arena were $720 million, or $360,000 for each of those 2,000 jobs.
