BROOKLYN - A flagpole from Ebbets Field went up at the Barclays Center earlier today.

When Ebbets Field was demolished 53 years ago, the flagpole was moved outside a veterans home on Utica and East Flatbush avenues. When the veterans home began its transformation to a church, the flagpole was sent to storage for five years.

The flagpole celebrates the return of major professional sports to the borough.
