Basketball player pleads guilty in beating of BK student

(09/14/10) BROOKLYN - The Serbian basketball player accused of brutally beating a college student from Brooklyn pleaded guilty today as his trial was set to begin. Miladin Kovacevic was accused of beating Brian Steinhauer into a coma two years ago near Binghamton University. Kovacevic escaped to Serbia and the country refused to extradite him. The prosecution made a plea bargain with Kovacevic, but details of the deal are not yet known. The court will rule on the deal Sept. 27.
