BROOKLYN - Historical groups gathered at two Brooklyn parks today to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn.

The Battle of Brooklyn, fought in 1776, was one of the largest battles of the Revolutionary War. At Fort Greene Park, the Society of Old Brooklynites held its 105th annual memorial tribute at the park's Prison Shop Martyrs Monument.

At Brooklyn Bridge Park, historical reenactors taught children about the battle, complete with firing old muskets over the East River.
