BAY RIDGE - Residents in Bay Ridge say the city's plan to curb illegal dumping in corner trash bins has backfired.

The one-month pilot program removed the public trash bin because local tenants and businesses were dumping their own trash in them.

After the city removed them, trash began to pile up and left pedestrians with nowhere to deposit their litter.

Residents say they want the bins back to reduce the litter along the streets.

The city says that at the end of the program they'll evaluate whether to keep the bins off the street or return them to their original locations.
