BROOKLYN - Beaches and parks are littered with garbage this morning as officials say the holiday weekend brought scores of residents outside.

The Department of Parks and Recreation says it has been out cleaning Manhattan Beach since 3 a.m. after residents celebrated the Fourth of July weekend.

Workers found Styrofoam containers, plastic bags and empty soda bottles strewn across the beaches. The department plans to clean all the borough beaches and parks today.
