BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - Community leaders in Bedford-Stuyvesant are hailing the opening of an environmentally friendly residential building in the neighborhood.

Residents say 300 Putnam Ave. was once an eyesore that lacked heat and has now been transformed for green living.

The building will offer features such as motion-activated lighting and solar panels.
