BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - A local charitable organization on Fulton Street is working to make sure the hungry have enough to eat during the approaching holiday season.

The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger, a nonprofit and the largest food bank in Brooklyn, expects to see a 37 percent increase in the amount of meals served this year. It is seeking donations to help accommodate this year's influx.

According to the pantry, a $25 donation will help pay for 20 meals, and a $50 donation will pay for 40 meals.

The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger, which has served the community for 15 years, does not turn anyone away as long as it has food. It says the expected increase is partly due to those still feeling the effects of Superstorm Sandy.
