Bed-Stuy community organization robbed

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - Police say a Bedford-Stuyvesant community organization that teaches young adults digital and visual arts was robbed of more than $10,000 in equipment.

The DIVAS for Social Justice headquarters at 677 Lafayette Ave. was burglarized of all of its equipment last week, including five Apple iMac computers and digital cameras.

Clarisa James, a co-director of the organization, says DIVAS for Social Justice had recently achieved nonprofit status. James says the young women who spend time at the organization are devastated.

The group held a fundraiser Tuesday evening. James says the organization will use the money to replenish the equipment.
