Bed-Stuy mom accused of killing 4-year-old back in court

BROOKLYN - The Bedford-Stuyvesant mother accused of killing her 4-year-old daughter is expected to be back in court today.Carlotta Pierce faces several charges, including assault and reckless endangerment.

Police found the 4-year-old extremely underweight with marks around her ankles in September.

The medical examiner's office says Marchella Pierce died of child abuse syndrome. According to the medical examiner, Pierce sustained acute drug poisoning, blunt impact injuries, malnutrition and dehydration.
