BROOKLYN - A Bed-Stuy mother has been convicted in the starvation death of her 4-year-old daughter.
Carlotta Brett-Pierce was found guilty of second-degree murder after Marchella Pierce was found dead in Sept. 2010. Prosecutors say the young girl weighed half of what a child her age should, and had bruises and cuts on her body.
The child's grandmother, Loretta Brett, is also charged with manslaughter in the case. Deliberations in her case are set to begin soon after closing arguments were heard today.
