BROOKLYN - A Bedford-Stuyvesant mother is now facing murder charges in connection with her 4-year-old daughter's death.

Carlotta Brett-Pierce has been charged with murder, manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. Police found her daughter, Marchella, dead in their apartment in September.

The city medical examiner's office has said that Marchella Pierce died Sept. 2 of child abuse syndrome, including acute drug poisoning, blunt-impact injuries, malnutrition and dehydration.

Brett-Pierce faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
