Bedbug protection plan in place for back-to-school

BROOKLYN - Bedbugs have been seen all over New York City and many are concerned about the pesky bloodsuckers becoming a back-to-school treat.

However, the Department of Education says a bedbug protocol plan has been in place after incidents in certain schools. If a bedbug is found in the school, the principal must inform all parents and staff about the incident and provide proper education.

If a bedbug is found on a child, the parents are notified. The DOE also stated that classrooms are not the ideal conditions for bedbugs. They are more commonly found inside bedding in homes.
