BENSONHURST - Drivers in Bensonhurst say the city has them confused on whether or not it's legal to use one parking receipt in multiple spots.

Assemblyman William Colton (D-Bensonhurst) says the Department of Transportation (DOT) told motorist-advocacy groups that it is legal to transfer muni-meter parking receipts from one location to another if there is time left on the meter.

But Colton says that during the past few months, his office has received numerous calls from drivers in Bensonhurst who have gotten parking violations for doing just that.

Colton says he won't stop pushing until the DOT makes a public announcement clarifying the law.
