BENSONHURST - Bensonhurst residents kicked off the holiday weekend early with their 29th annual Christopher Columbus Day Parade.

The parade started at 61st Street and 18th Avenue, also known as Cristoforo Colombo Boulevard, and traveled all the way to 84th Street. Students of all grades from the neighborhood marched in the parade, celebrating Italian culture and tradition.

A Mass preceded the parade at St. Athanasius Church in Bensonhurst.
