BROOKLYN - Tenants of a Bensonhurst building say elevators broken for more than three weeks have them feeling like prisoners in their own homes.

The building, located at 7714 Bay Parkway, houses many senior citizens who have trouble walking up and down the stairs.

The Department of Buildings inspected the elevator and issued violations to the owner. A spokesperson told News 12 Brooklyn that the building has been flagged as a repeat offender and will be closely monitored.

A letter on the elevator from management says they hope to have it fixed by next Monday.
