BROOKLYN - A Red Hook man has transformed his front yard into a local landmark.

David Gonzalez has been adorning his front gate with different artistic displays for the past six years, but his artwork took on a new meaning after Superstorm Sandy.

Gonzalez created a mural after the storm called the Faces of Red Hook. He says it serves as a symbol of strength for the hard-hit neighborhood, as a tribute to the diversity in the community and as a social message.

Neighbors say they love what Gonzalez is doing.
