CONEY ISLAND - The New York Aquarium in Coney Island will see some big changes in the next few years.

Director John Dohlin promises an improved NY Aquarium by 2017, which will result in about one million visitors a year.

The Aquarium will feature a new exhibit for one of the ocean's most fascinating creatures.

A plan is being implemented to build a 57,000 square-foot shark exhibit called Ocean Wonders. It will include three exhibits filled with sharks from around the world.

Other renovations include a rooftop touch tank, classrooms for kids, a café and a deck view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Dohlin says the aquarium is the perfect way to teach New Yorkers about our island.
