Bitter cold poses danger for heatless tenants in Sheepshead Bay

SHEEPSHEAD BAY - As outside temperatures reach record lows, some Brooklyn residents say they are just as cold inside their heatless apartments.Tenants of the Sheepshead Bay Houses on Batchelder Street say their heat goes on and off constantly. Tenant Joyce Crawford says she has spoken to both the landlord and city officials and nothing has been done. She says she is tempted to turn on the oven for heat, but is afraid of sparking a fire.Officials from the New York City Housing Authority acknowledge that there are problems with the boiler and says they are troubleshooting.
