BK athletes attribute healthy eating with success at Empire State Games

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn athletes are preparing for their turn in the Empire State Games in Rochester by staying well-fueled.

Many players say they like the food served at the cafeteria and appreciate the variety. However, many players say their sport determines what they eat. Some praise carbohydrates for the quick boost of energy they get, but others feel carbs pack on pounds. Athletes all agree they should not overeat because it makes them sluggish.

While competitors enjoy mealtime, they say their rooms are not air conditioned, which can drain them sometimes.
