PROSPECT HEIGHTS - The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is celebrating its 100th year and its director is celebrating half a century of hard work and dedication there.
Elizabeth Scholtz, 89, has technically retired three times throughout her career. Yet every day she shows up to the Botanical Gardens voluntarily to lend a hand.
Scholtz says her love for plant life started when she was just a child, spending time in the garden with her mother.
After Scholtz's first retirement in the 1980s, the Botanical Garden dedicated the education wing in her honor.
