(09/27/10) BROOKLYN - New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio's list of slumlords is growing.

Recently added to the list was The Flatbush Gardens, with nearly 60 buildings, thousands of apartments and nearly 6,000 violations. Kimberly Oliver, a tenant of The Flatbush Gardens, says "There are a lot of us who have been here for a while and we really want it to be a better place." She showed News 12 Brooklyn garbage outside of her window, bugs in her apartment, a hole in the ceiling above her shower and the stench in places such as the basement.

De Blasio created a website that features the Slumlord Watch List to call attention to bad landlords who continually violate housing laws. The building owners make the list for failing to meet health and safety standards including open, life-threatening violations.

The list is available to anyone with Internet access.
