BK businesses hope for record sales for Valentine's Day

DUMBO - It's Valentine's Day and many are saying 'I Love You' with chocolates, flowers and presents.

Employees at local flower shops say they have been very busy this season. Several say they usually get about 200 orders for roses on an average weekend. However, that number jumps to 800 for Valentine's Day weekend.

Jacques Torres' chocolate store in DUMBO had a line outside the door before it even opened this morning. Torres says on an average business day he gets about 100 customers, but today, he is expecting at least five times that.

It is estimated consumers will spend $3.5 billion on jewelry, nearly $2 billion on flowers and another $3 billion on cards and candy.
