BK construction workers arrested in citywide sweep

BROOKLYN - Some Brooklyn workers are among 30 arrested in a citywide sweep of illegal construction sites.

According to investigators, two people were arrested at 325 Clinton Ave. in Fort Greene where the construction company had not been following safety precautions and had allowed its workers' comp insurance to lapse. A stop work order was issued at the site and at three other buildings on the same street.

The Department of Investigations says it found more than 70 fraudulent scaffolding certificates and OSHA safety cards across the city as part of a two-week long crackdown.
