SHEEPSHEAD BAY - The summer's high temps and recent series of manhole fires has led to the question -- could Brooklyn be next to be hit with a power outage?

There have been several manhole fires and explosions throughout Brooklyn in the last week. In Park Slope last week, there were three manhole fires that left some residents in a brownout. And over the weekend in Sunset Park, there were several manhole fires that left residents fearing they would lose power.

Residents who need to report a power outage can call Con Ed at 1-800-75-CONED. For special services or food spoilage issues, residents should call 311. And of course, for any emergency call 911.
