BROOKLYN - Emergency crews were able to stay connected during the blizzard due to the efforts of a prominent city-based organization.
 
Volunteers with Citywide Disaster Services stayed on the radio throughout the storm, informing emergency workers of incidents until all needed resources had been sent to the victims.
 
The group was established in the 1970s to help agencies stay up to date on emergencies.
