SUNSET PARK - Amerikick Karate Studios held a free kidnapping prevention seminar for children today.

The studio's sensei Ricky Taylor says he started offering the class to calm parents' anxiety after the tragic kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky earlier this month.

During today?s class, the children learned awareness drills and stranger exercises, which Taylor says helps the students develop skills necessary to avoid being kidnapped.

"It's important that we not only arm them with self-confidence, but self-defense," he says.

Taylor says the studio also has seen an increase in enrollment following the incident, with parents looking for ways to keep their children safe.
