BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn man has been arrested for allegedly crashing into and killing a off-duty NYPD police officer on Long Island overnight.

Police say Andre Menzies, 35, was struck head-on by a Chevy Astro van driving in the wrong direction on the eastbound Northern State Parkway between Wolf Hill Road and Deer Park Avenue. Menzies was a nine-year veteran of the NYPD.

Michael Bowen, 50, is facing charges of DWI and reckless driving.
