BROOKLYN - A judge today convicted Brooklyn woman Laura Sergio of manslaughter for tossing her newborn daughter in the trash.

Police found Sergio?s baby girl wrapped in a towel and stuffed in a black garbage bag on the back porch of her Bay Ridge home in 2007. A second black garbage bag was filled with bloody rags.

During the trial, Sergio claimed she suffered amnesia and had no memory of the crime. Her two sisters, Andria and Cara, were charged with improper disposal of a human body. Those charges were subsequently dropped.

Sergio is due back in court for sentencing on November 12. She could face up to 25 years in prison.
