BROOKLYN - Brooklyn native and beloved hip-hop star Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys died Friday after a three-year battle with cancer of the salivary gland.

Yauch,47, graduated from Edward R. Murrow High School in the early 1980s.

Yauch's death comes just a month after the Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
