BROOKLYN - A new local business is reinventing comfort food by serving hot porridge in the winter months.
The owners of Brooklyn Porridge Co. opened up shop in November. They say their idea was born from their love of savory porridges.
Customers can choose between creamy grits, oats or amaranth with toppings running the gamut from maple bourbon ham and caramelized onions, to berries and almonds.
The oats are naturally gluten and antibiotic-free, satisfying health nuts and food lovers alike.
For now, the business is just a pop-up shop, so it will only be in Park Slope until the spring, but the owners say they plan on coming back next year.
