BROOKLYN - Many Brooklyn residents are expressing mixed feelings after President Barack Obama made a historic, bold announcement supporting same-sex marriage.

The borough has a large gay community and many local officials are friendly toward the LGBT community, but some worry about the effect the watershed moment will have on the rest of the nation.

Borough President Marty Markowitz opened Borough Hall for same-sex couples when the marriage equality bill passed in New York State last year. Brooklyn was also the host of the city's first-ever LGBT wedding expo. Obama voices his support for gay marriage
