BK residents call for a change after violent weekend

OCEAN HILL - ? After a violent weekend which left 22 people shot and 3 killed in separate shootings, community leaders are stepping up to combat violence.

The most recent shooting came this morning at a party at Nostrand and Fenimore avenues, leaving 5 people shot. Bringing the total to number of shot to 22 in less than 48 hours.

Community advocate Tony Herbert says everyone and most importantly the mayor needs to step up their game when it comes to stopping violence.

Herbert is calling upon and organizing a faith-based initiative, a long-term campaign that he thinks will stop gang violence and get kids doing something positive.

Herbert says there will be a citywide, simultaneous prayer for peace Monday night.

Anyone with information about the recent shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577 TIPS.
