BROOKLYN - Brooklyn park advocates are calling for the Department of Parks and Recreation to add more officers to the park enforcement patrol.

As of now, there are only seven park enforcement patrol officers for more than 4,300 acres of parkland in Brooklyn.

Residents say it is hard for them to enjoy the parks when they are worried about their safety.

Just last week, five people were shot on the Brighton Beach boardwalk, which is a Department of Parks and Recreation facility.

The department says that the NYPD is responsible for crime prevention, even in parks.
