BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - Residents in Brooklyn Heights say they are living in a traffic nightmare thanks to alternate side parking rules in their neighborhood.

Residents on Hick Street say they've been waking up extra early on Wednesdays for years so that they can move their cars to the other side of the street.

Neighbors say the problem is that garbage pickup is also on Wednesday mornings.  They say with vehicles on both sides of the street until 8 a.m., sanitation trucks have no where to pull over and let traffic through.

With traffic stretching down the block, residents say it's impossible to get cars out of parking spots in time for alternate side parking to take effect.

Residents are calling on the city to issue residential parking permits or schedule garbage pickup on a different day.
