BK residents hit the beach on Opening Day

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn residents hit the beach today on Opening Day, hoping to catch some sun after a long and cold winter.

Many visitors said they were excited that the beaches were open in time for such wonderful weather, and more than one kid was excited to be out in the water.

According to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, 19 million people came to city beaches last summer.

The beaches will be open every day from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. through Labor Day.Coney Island beaches to open Saturday
