BK residents look to protect themselves from sex assaults

BROOKLYN - In light of the string of recent sexual assaults in Brooklyn, many residents are wondering what they can do to protect themselves from possible attacks.

The Guardian Angels has begun offering safety tips to women in case they're attacked.

Founder Curtis Sliwa says the best course of action is for women to fight back fast and then run away. He says many women hesitate when groped.

It also suggests that women keep their guard up by not listening to music or talking on their phone while walking.

The group recommends that women also take a self-defense class.
