BROOKLYN - After enjoying their Thanksgiving feasts and storming shopping malls on Black Friday, Brooklyn residents hit local stores yesterday for "Small Business Saturday."

Mom-and-pop shops all across the borough joined in the second-annual event by offering major discounts to attract customers in hopes of boosting their holiday sales.

Businesses and shoppers alike say locally owned stores provide one-of-a-kind merchandise that can only be found in Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods.

Small businesses nationwide took part in the event.Small Business Saturday
