BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn restaurant has claimed the honor of best deli in New York City on the new Zagat Survey.

The Mile End Deli on Hoyt Street has only been open since January, but has quickly become known for its Montreal-inspired homemade sandwiches.

Their self-cured, smoked and steamed meats became so popular that the owner says he moved all the prep work to a warehouse in the Gowanus where over 100 pounds of meats are now processed daily.

Brooklyn also claimed top spots in several other categories, including best southern and Chinese food.
