NEW YORK - Local retailers say they were let down by how few shoppers went out to bargain hunt today.

Presidents Day is a national holiday and a day off from work for most, which usually translates into more shoppers and big profits for store owners.

However, many businesses say today was a slow day. Residents who did go out to shop agreed, saying how surprised they were to find stores almost empty.

Business owners say they believe the early morning snowstorm kept many residents from going out and shopping.
