FORT GREENE - Some Fort Greene elementary school students are gearing up for the National Elementary Chess Tournament in Dallas, Texas this weekend.

Eight students from the Community Partnership Charter School will be flying out to compete in the tournament after winning several citywide competitions.

School officials say chess is taught in all of the classrooms at Community Partnership Charter School. The school partnered with the Chess in Schools program, which offers chess classes to kids in under-served communities.
