BROOKLYN - Borough President Marty Markowitz (D-Brooklyn) joined members of the Turkish Cultural Center today to donate meat to needy Muslim families across Brooklyn. The organization handed out more than 700 pounds of halal meat for the holiday of Eid ul-Adha, which requires Muslims to sacrifice certain animals and distribute two-thirds of the meat to people in need. The beef was sent to food pantries and soup kitchens.
