Police say an Acura was going eastbound on Avenue U when it ran a red light and collided with a Toyota that was headed northbound

GRAVESEND - A fatal vehicle collision in Gravesend has left three dead and three others hospitalized.

Police say an Acura was going eastbound on Avenue U when it ran a red light and collided with a Toyota that was headed northbound on East 5th Street. Andres Capers-Jones, the driver of the Toyota, and his passenger, Leonora Lavaud, were killed. Officials say one of them was ejected through the windshield.

Police say the driver of the Acura was also killed. Three other passengers in the Acura were injured, one critically, and taken to Lutheran Hospital.

Officials report that a few vehicles parked on Avenue U were struck as a result of the accident. Police say an MTA bus was also hit.
