BROOKLYN - Although the World Cup is taking place thousands of miles away, that didn't stop Brooklyn fans from cheering for Team USA after it scored a winning goal against Algeria today, finishing the game 1-0.

Hundreds of energized patrons crowded the Black Horse Pub on 16th Street to watch two decisive World Cup games: U.S. vs. Algeria and England vs. Slovenia.

The fans hurled obscenities at the TV screens after a U.S. goal was disallowed by a referee, but at the end the Americans came out on top, advancing into the next round.

England also advanced, defeating Slovenia 1-0.
